Unity Route 66 Flea & Farmers Market is opening in the Joliet, IL area. Unity Route 66 Flea Farmers Market, also known as "the social enterprise" will become well known in the Joliet Flea and Farmer market by offering the highest quality of consumer goods including USDA-Certified Organic agricultural products to our community in the Joliet, Will County area.
With an increasing rise in the Will County population there is a continual need for quality products & services within our industry and within our market. Entering the market place with a competitive pricing structure, superior customer service, and the highest quality of products will give the social enterprise enough clientel to make this a valuable endeavor for Unity Community Development Corporation and the Community it serves.
Unity’s approach will be in two phases:
The first immediate short-term phase approach beginning July 2014, will be to engage the public in an outdoor flea and farmers market initiative. We are expecting to engage over fifty vendors. The outdoor Farmers Market and festival approach is expected to draw hundreds of traveling consumers toward the Markets. The Flea Market initiative has a perpetual time; as the Farmers Market initiative will be seasonal. Additionally, phase one will create jobs and entrepreneur opportunities in our community. Also, this initial phase will provide deep consumer savings upon their purchase of agricultural and other consumer goods.
Unity’s phase-two focus will be a social enterprise path focused on empowering people and communities with USDA-Certified Organic, high-production urban farms and Back of the Yards neighborhoods, as well as over-see large-acre farms in the Will County and surrounding areas. Unity seeks to operate, promote, and demonstrate the use of organic agriculture and products as a vehicle for job training, employment, and community development. This aligns with our existing quality of life economic development plan of economic restoration in the community focusing on urban agriculture as a catalyst. Unity Community Development Corporation is aiming to be a leader in advocating for local healthy food systems.
